Back in Time

TreetopsTreetopsTreetops
I haven’t done any serious black & white since just after high school (Don’t ask!). I decided to explore simplicity as my retreat project a few weeks ago. In exploring the minimalist approach I think I learned a great deal.
I’m always looking at the sky above the treetops. But I’m not sure it ever occurred to me to make a photo project out of that habit. I began at Raquette Lake, which has visible shoreline all over the place.

Focusing on the Positive

Trees near Cary Lake

This not being the best of weeks, I decided to focus only on the positive and let the rest take care of itself. My reward was lots of time in the field, where I finally got the procedure down for a new technique (totally in-camera) that I am all jazzed-up about. It is time-consuming and difficult to execute, but I think the results are fantastic!

UH Show Is Up!

The UH exhibit is on the wall and looking good! The prints will be up thru the holidays, with a meet & greet scheduled for December 1. This is a great spot to show the work, well lit and accessible. There are twenty-three images spanning the entire range of my career. Come out and see!

The center is located at 13207 Ravenna Rd., Chardon, OH 44024. For driving directions click here.

The exhibit is held in partnership with Geauga Council for Arts & Culture.

(For some reason Blogger is not allowing insertion of images. I'll put those on Facebook.)

I've Updated My Gallery!

I was long overdue on taking stock of my work over the last few years and updating my website gallery accordingly. This due mostly to workshops consuming most of my waking life, as opposed to print exhibits as in the past. Most glaringly, the gallery had little to show for all the work I'd put into the 'expressionist' images I've spent most of my time on recently.

Well, the layoff is over. I hope it was worth the wait!

See the new and updated gallery here.

I’m Best in the Woods

DSC_1841

"Trees in particular were mysterious and seemed to me direct embodiments of the incomprehensible meaning of life. For that reason the woods were the place where I felt closest to its deepest meaning and to its awe-inspiring workings." - C.G. Jung
